TESTING LENSES

I wanted to make my own test of  lenses because I couldn't find on the web what I was looking for.

So, I started with this Ghetto setup just to see what's going to happen. Now that I did it, I know what I was supposed to do.
However, patience is not my virtue and I want to publish what I've found out so far.

Setup

Started with Tamron 14mm set on Canon    EOS 5D some 25" inches from a subject. It covered some 65" long stretch on the long side.

Lens Resolving Power

I didn't like how others would resize images from different focal lengths to make them appear the same size.
Instead, I was moving away from a subject so to have the same (similar) coverage. This clearly shows lens resolving power.

Coverage and Sharpness

Different coverage from the same spot, 25" from the subject, can be seen here:

OVERALL SHARPNESS

Canon 50/1.4 is  the sharpest lens everywhere, but 60 year old Zeiss is right there.
Check selective crops from a single frames (each set is made from one respective full resolution image).
All shots @ f/8.
